LADS set stage for night of laughter

An hilarious farce - Funny Money by Ray Cooney - is the next production of Leyburn Amateur Dramatic Society and is to be staged at Wensleydale School on Thursday, Friday and Saturday October 22, 23 and 24.

The cast is pictured above with producer Carrol Thomas (right).

- Jean is preparing a birthday dinner for her mild-mannered accountant husband Henry. Good friends Betty and Vic are expected any minute and Jean is frantic because Henry is late. When he eventually arrives, Jean finds him not quite the man he used to be. He wants to emigrate to Barcelona immediately and with good reason; the briefcase he accidentally picked up on the Undergroud is stuffed with bundles of £50 notes amounting to £735,000.

What the critics said of the original West End production:

"Farce-lovers are in for two and half hours of inspired, demented bliss" - Sunday Times

"...a mechanical masterpiece of manufactured mirth..." - Spectator
